Nariyal Purnima is a special and distinct festival for the worship of Lord Varuna – the God of seas- celebrated by the people living on the coasts. Bhadra Purnima fair is an astounding fair held at the shrine of Goddess Ambali in Ambali village at the foothills of the Aravalli mountain range in Gujarat . The magnificent Vautha Fair is held every year at Vautha, the confluence of the great rivers Sabarmati and Vatrak, on the full moon day of the month of Kartik in the Hindu calendar (November). Chitra Vichitra Fair - Gujarat |
Chitra Vichitra Fair is a gigantic tribal fair held in March/April at the confluence of three rivers in the village of Gunbhakhari just a fortnight after the Holy Festival (festival of colors). Rath Yatra - Gujurat |
The Rath Yatra or chariot procession organized by the Jagannath temple in Amdavad, Gujarat is blindingly spectacular and colorful. People make kaleidoscopic chariots and floats of various materials, mount them on trucks and take them in the procession. Sweets and confectionaries are given away to children and onlookers during the procession which invariably involves around hundred chariots and often stretch more than 5 kms.
