Theyyam is an indulging folk art unique to the northern parts of Kerala and forms an integral part of the lore and beliefs of the people of the region. There are many forms of theyyam; in fact a large number of them. The Kuttikkol Thampuratty Theyyam festival conducted at the Kuttikkol Thampuratty temple at Kuttikkol in Kasaragod district showcases most of the major Theyyams. Theyyam Festival In North Kerala

DAY 1 ARRIVE CHENNAI
Arrive at Chennai and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit to Fort St. George - this bastion derived its name form St. George, the patron saint of England , The State Legislature and the Secretariats are located inside this fort. The St. Mary's Church-the oldest Anglican Church in India . Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2 CHENNAI- MAMALLAPURAM (60 KM/1.5 HRS)
Morning breakfast, checkout and proceed to Mamallapuram. On the way visit Dakshina Chitra is an exciting cross cultural living museum of art, architecture, lifestyles, crafts and performing arts of South India . You can explore 17 heritage houses, amble along recreated streetscapes, explore contextual exhibitions, interact with typical village artisans and witness folk performances set in an authentic ambience. Dakshina Chitra literally means - "a picture of the south". On arrival check in to a beach resort. Overnight at the Resort.

Day 3 MAMALLAPURAM & KANCHIPURAM
Morning breakfast and full day sight seeing. Visit to Caves - there are nine rock cut cave temples, contrasting the goddess fighting a demon on one side, and Lord Vishnu's cosmic sleep on the other, is a particularly remarkable one, Bas-Relief. The World's largest bas relief is the pride of Mamallapuram. Five Rathas - rock-cut temples are rated as excellent example of Pallava art. Shaped in different styles, The Shore Temple - this is one of the oldest temples in South India . Kanchipuram was under the Pallavas from the 6th to 8th century AD and later became the citadel of the Cholas, Vijayanagar Kings, the Muslim and the British. It has been a center of Tamil learning, cultural and religious background for centuries. Kanchipuram has magnificent temples of unique architectural beauty bearing eloquent testimony to its glorious Dravidian heritage. All the religious cities in India support one of the two sects in Hinduism - Vaishnavism and Shaivism, but Kanchipuram has blended itself equally to both the sects, dividing itself into Vishnu Kanchi, surrounding the Varadaraja Temple, and Shiva Kanchi, surrounding the Ekambareshwar (also spelt as Ekambareshwa) Temple, while the Kamakshi Amman Temple stands in between as a place of Shakti worship. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4 MAMALLAPURAM-PONDICHERY
Morning breakfast, checkout and proceed to Pondichery and upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Afternoon v isit the serene atmosphere of Aurobindo Ashram, which was founded by Sri Aurobindo in 1926 and has attained international reputation for its spiritual tenets including yoga and modern science of living. The Botanical Gardens, conceived in 1826, boast a variety of rare and exotic plants from India and abroad, and take a stroll on the beaches of Pondichery. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 PONDICHERRY-TRICHY (195 KM/4.5 HRS)
Morning after breakfast, depart by surface to Trichy and upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Trichy. Visiting the Sringam Fort, which has great view of the city. On the southern face of the rock are several beautifully carved rock-cut cave temples of the Pallava period. Srirangam - The most important pilgrim center in the district is located in an island just 5kms from Trichy. Overnight at the horel.

DAY 6 TRICHY -TANJAVUR -TRICHY (55 KM/1 HR)
Morning breakfast and proceed for a day trip to Tanjavur. Visit to Sri Bragadeeswarar Temple , The Palace, Art Gallery - In the Palace there are a number of granite and bronze statues of the Chola period. Return to Tiruchirappally (Trichy), and overnight.

DAY 7 TRICHY-MADURAI (200 KM/4.5 HRS)
Morning breakfast and proceed to Madurai and upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Madurai city. Evening visit Meenakshi Temple to witness the night ceremony. Overnight in Madurai .

DAY 8 MADURAI-THEKKADY (140 KM/3 HRS)
After breakfast drive to Periyar. The scenic drive takes you through green hills with forests, plantations of tea, spices and rubber, streams and waterfalls. On the way visit some of the spice plantations. Check in to hotel.

DAY 9 THEKKADY-MUNNAR
Morning take a wildlife viewing Boat ride on the artificial Periyar Lake . Afternoon depart by surface to Munnar (110 kms/3 hrs approx. Upon arrival check-in at a hill resort. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 10 MUNNAR
After breakfast visit Eravikulam National Park , natural habitat of the rare mountain goat - Nilgiri Tahr and home of Anamudi (2,695m) the highest peak of South India . Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 11 MUNNAR - COCHIN (130 KM/3 HRS)
Breakfast and proceed to Cochin - The commercial capital and the most cosmopolitan city of Kerala , Kochi , in Ernakulam, is also known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea , on arrival check in to a hotel. Afternoon ightseeing tour of Kochi includes a visit to the Dutch Palace and Synagogue. En route see the famous Chinese fishing nets. Evening Kathakali Dance Show. Overnight at Cochin .

DAY 12 COCHIN - ATHIRAPALLY (55 KM/1.5 HRS)
After breakfast transfer to hotel at the most beautiful waterfall of Kerala. Day at leisure. Overnight at the resort.

DAY 13 ATHIRAPALLY - WAYANAD (245 KM/5.5 HRS)
After breakfast transfer to Wayanad. Check in to hotel. Afternoon visit Edakkal Caves . The two caves are located at a height of 1000 m on Ambukutty Mala near Ambalavayal. The New Stone Age pictorial writings on the walls of these natural caves at Edakkal are evidence of the civilization that existed in these regions in prehistoric times. Overnight at the resort..

DAY 14 WAYANAD
After breakfast proceed to Kazargod to see the spectacular Theyyam Festival. Overnight at the resort.

DAY 15 WAYANAD - KABINI (60 KM/1.5 HRS)
After breakfast proceed to Kabini. Check in at noon . Settle down and freshen up. Treat yourself to a sumptuous lunch at the Gol Ghar. Gear up for a ride into the Park with tea/ coffee served at the Gol Ghar. Our naturalists take you on a wildlife jeep safari into the Nagarhole National Park , showing & sharing with you their experiences and information about the jungle and all the animals that live there. Watch a wildlife movie as you gulp beer at the Viceroy's building. Bask in the warmth of the campfire, while you dine in the Gol Ghar, exchanging tales of the jungle with the other guests.

DAY 16 KABINI - MYSORE (80 KM/2 HRS)
Wake up to a hot early morning cup of tea/coffee. Cruise through the serene backwaters of the Kabini River on a motor boat viewing sleepy crocodiles and chirpy birds, intent on their morning catch. View a variety of wildlife, especially the elephants, coming to the river for bath or a drink.  Alternatively, you can go on a jeep safari to sight the animals, and have a ride on the elephant in the jungle, which means you can have the boat ride the evening before. Your stay at Kabini is not over yet. A hearty brunch is what awaits you after your sojourn in the wild. As you bid adieu to Kabini, the memories of your stay here will linger on, till the time you return again. Later proceed to Mysore . Afternoon visit to Maharaja Palace , Chamundi Hill - perched a top a hill. Overnight in Mysore .

Day 17 MYSORE-BANGALORE-DEPARTURE
Transfer to Bangalore airport for departure.
