Mysore Dussera Festival – Mysore

Dussera, the state festival of Karnataka is celebrated with grandeur and Great Spirit at the picturesque and tranquil city of Mysore. Dussera, a ten day long festival is a celebration of the victory of good over evil. The celebrations touch the peak on the tenth day (Vijayalakshmi), on which Godess Durga slew the demon Mahishasura as per myths. The festival is steered by the great royal family of Mysore who perform special poojas on the occasion. Cultural programs, poet meets, food festivals, film festivals and wrestling matches are organized at the Mysore palace, an imposing architectural wonder. Day 01 ARRIVAL BANGALORE
Meting and assistance on arrival at Bangalore airport and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon sightseeint tour of city Bangalore – the Garden City of India visiting the Lal Bagh which has a variety of old Trees, Fountains, Lotus Pools, Terraces and an assortment of tropical herbs and sub tropical herbs. Day 02 BANGALORE – HASSAN
Morning after breakfast departure by surface to Hassan en route visiting the Jain temple at Sravanabelgola situated on top of a hill. Five hundred steps cut out of rock lead to the summit and the colossal statue of Lord Gomateswara. It is nearly eighteen hundred years old. Continue your drive to Hassan. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03 HASSAN – MYSORE

Morning after breakfast excursion to the Chenna Kesava Temple of Belur built 900 years ago and the 12th centuryHoysaleswara and Kedareswara temples at Halebid. Afternoon departure by surface to Mysore (approx 115 Kms/4hrs). Upon arrival checks in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04 MYSORE (Dasara Festival)
Morning after breakfast celebration on Mysore Dasara . Overnight at the hotel.

Day 05 MYSORE - COORG
Morning after breakfast full day sightseeing tour of Mysore visiting the Palace of the Maharaja built in 1911-12. Visit the Art Gallery, drive up to Chamundi Hill to see the Chamundeshwari Temple and a panoramic view of Mysore. On your way back, see the Nandi Bull. Afternoon drive to Coorg upon arrival check in at the hotel.Overnight at the hotel.

Day 06 COORG
Morning after breakfast full day sightseeing tour of Coorg. Coorg is a region of scattered villages and hamlets, with a few townships standing out. Postcard-pretty with their red tiled cottages and purple flowering shrubs. Coorg has a few temples that are worth visiting. The Bagamandala Temple at the confluence of the Cauvery–Sujyothi Rivers is built in the multi-roofed Kerala style. The Omkareshwara Temple, dedicated to Shiva, is almost 200 years old and is a surprising blend of Islamic and Gothic styles. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 07 COORG – WYANAD
Morning after breakfast departure by surface to Wyana.d Upon arrival check-in at Hotel. Rest of the day free of leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 08 WYANAD
Morning after breakfast visit Edakkal Caves. The two caves are located at a height of 1000 m on Ambukutty Mala near Ambalavayal. The New Stone Age pictorial writings on the walls of these natural caves at Edakkal are evidence of the civilization that existed in these regions in prehistoric times. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 09 WYANAD – CALICUT
Morning after breakfast departure by surface to Calicut. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Calicut. Visit Kappad - the place where Vasco da Gama set foot for the first time when he came to India on May 27, 1498. There is a small stone monument at the beach to commemorate that event. Museum is located on the East Hill. Overnight at the Resort.

Day 10 CALICUT – COCHIN
Morning after breakfast, depart by surface to Cochin en-route visiting Punnathur Kotta located near Guruvayoor in Thrissur district of Kerala The Elephant pound has about 60 elephants and is located over 10 acres of land It is one of the popular local tourist destination and upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Cochin. Cochin is a city with an eventful history. The Portuguese, the Dutch, the English all had established themselves here at one time or the other.
Prominent attractions are the Jewish synagogue, santa cruz church( built in 16th century by the Dutch ), cochin fort (built-1503 by the Dutch ), Bolgatty Palace built by Dutch in 1744 and the St. Francis church ( built-1510 AD by the Dutch ) where Vasco de Gamma was buried ( later his remains were taken to Portugal, but his tombstone is still there at the St. Francis church which is the oldest church in India built by Europeans ) Evening witness a Kathakali Dance Drama. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 15 COCHIN-DEPARTURE
