Nagaur Fair (Ramdeoji Cattle Fair) - Nagaur (Rajasthan) - January-February

Come to "Indian Festival Tours" to take you to the quaint town of Nagaur, near Jodhpur, one of the most picturesque of Rajput townships , which stirs to life during the 8 day long Colourful Nagaur Fair. This cattle fair is the second largest in Rajasthan and is held every year during Jan-Feb, when the city bustles with life. The Nagaur bulls are renowned for their fleet footedness and attract buyers from all over. Tug-of-War, camel races, cock & bullfights and strains of ballads create a joyful atmosphere and entertainment to the visitors and locals after a hectic day of trading. The Fair is renowned for the trading of cows, bullocks, oxes, camels and horses, which takes place here. Their owners are seen wearing colourful turbans and flaunting long moustaches. Wooden items, iron craft and leather accessories are available in abundance during the fair. As the last rays of setting sun bid aide to the day, a joyous atmosphere is created by the folk musicians whose voices echo far & wide across the tranquil desert sands.

Day 01 ARRIVE DELHI
Welcome to India . Meeting & assistance on arrival at the airport by our representative and transfer to the Hotel. Overnight in Delhi

Day 02 IN DELHI
Morning after breakfast, proceed for a full day city tour of Old & New Delhi. Among some of the most interesting highlights of your city tour of Old and New Delhi are the Red Fort, the Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat in the old city area and the Government Buildings , a drive through the majestic Rajpath to the India Gate, the Laxmi Narayan Temple , the Humayun's Tomb and the Qutab Minar etc. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03 DELHI/AGRA
Morning after early breakfast, depart by surface to Agra (205 kms/5 hrs approx.) and upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Agra city which includes: Agra Fort built by Emperor Akbar over the years 1565 - 1573 with its maze of courtyards, mosques, and private chambers. Most of the buildings originally built by Akbar were destroyed and were replaced by his grandson Shah Jehan. The only surviving structure from Akbar's period apart from the solid sand stone ramparts and the gateway is the Jehangir Mahal. It is the biggest private residence in the complex and its architecture indicates strong influences from Hindu overtones.Taj Mahal , built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan, this beautiful mausoleum is built of pure white marble and is an architectural marvel. Built in the memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. The building was conceived as a garden tomb with the mausoleum rising at the far end of the complex with the river Yamuna flowing below. Beneath the dome are the cenotaphs of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jehan. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04 AGRA/JAIPUR
Morning after breakfast, depart by surface to Jaipur (240 kms/6 hrs) en route visiting Fatehpur Sikri , the deserted capital of Mughal India. Among the principal attractions of Fatehpur Sikri are the large audience halls, palaces, the Mosques, the tomb of Salim Chishti, The Panchmahal, and the Buland Darwaza, which is among the biggest gates in Asia. On arrival check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Jaipur

Day 05 IN JAIPUR
Morning after breakfast, excursion to Amber Fort , the ancient capital of the State until 1728. Visit the Jagmandir or the hall of victory glittering with mirrors, Jai Mahal and Temple of Kali . Take a ride on gaily decorated elephant to the ramparts of the Fort.Afternoon sightseeing tour of Jaipur city. Among the principal sights are the Jantar Mantar or the Observatory, The Palace of Winds or Hawa Mahal, The City Palace & Museum. Jaipur is also a major center of precious and semi precious stones, jewellery, cotton textiles and the typical Blue Pottery. Overnight in Jaipur

Day 06 JAIPUR/PUSHKAR
Morning after breakfast, depart by surface to the Holy City - Pushkar and upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Afternoon visit the only Brahma Temple in the world and the Holy Lake . Overnight at the hotel.

Day 07 PUSHKAR/CHITTORGARH/UDAIPUR
Morning after breakfast, l eave for Udaipur enroute visiting Chittorgarh, an awesome cliff top fortress part of some of Rajasthan's most heroic and romantic episodes. Lake Proceed to the lakeside city of Udaipur the " Venice of the East" and on arrival check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Udaipur .

Day 08 IN UDAIPUR
Morning after breakfast, sightseeing tour of Udaipur city. Among the places visited are the City Palace - a majestic architectural marvel towering over the lake. A conglomeration of courtyards, pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms and hanging gardens. The main entrance is through the Triple arched gate "Tripolia" with eight marble porticos; the Jagdish temple- built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh, this Indo - Aryan temple is the largest and the most beautiful temple of Udaipur with note worthy sculpted images; the Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal, which houses an interesting collection of folk dresses, ornaments, puppets, masks, dolls, folk musical instruments, paintings etc; the Saheliyon ki Bari with its many fountains etc.A highlight of your trip to Udaipur is a sunset boat cruise on the beautiful placid Lake Pichola . The lake is surrounded by hills, palaces including the beautiful city palace, temples, bathing ghats and embankments. There are two island palaces, The Jagmandir and Jagniwas and also the beautiful Lake Palace sits on an island in this lake. Day 09 UDAIPUR/JODHPUR
Morning after breakfast, depart for Jodhpur en route visiting Ranakpur Jain Temples built in the 15 th century are situated in the lovely valley of the Aravali. Its surrounding is quite and picturesque. Ranakpur has grand structures and beautiful sculpture. There are 1444 pillars in the temple different from each other. Day 10 IN JODHPUR / /NAGAUR
Morning after breakfast, sightseeing tour of Joudpur city. Visit the Mehrangarh Fort, situated on a low sandstone hill, including Moti Mahal and Phool Mahal. Later visit Jaswant Thada, an imposing Marble Memoriam built in 1899 and the museum located in the Umaid Public Gardens .Afternoon depart by surface to Naguar, the venue of the spectacular Nagaur Festival. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel/camp in Nagaur. Evening to see celebrations at the Nagaur Fair. Overnight at the Camp.

Day 11 IN NAGAUR
Breakfast at the hotel. Rest of the day to explore the festival activities of the spectacular Naguar Fair. Overnight at the camp.

Day 12 NAGAUR/JAISALMER
Morning after breakfast depart by surface for Jaisalmer. Your drive westward ends when the fabled clifftop citadel of Jaisalmer suddenly looms from the desert. This ancient crossroad to camel caravans still exudes an aura of romance, mystery and lucrative exotic trade. On arrival check-in the hotel. Overnight in Jaisalmer

Day 13 IN JAISALMER
Jaisalmer - the last citadel in the desert. The Golden fort of Jaisalmer used to be a regular scheduled stop for the caravans plying on the ancient silk route, and was a major trading centre. Visit the Golden Fort, built in 1156 AD by Rawal Jaisal and is situated on 76 m high Triangular mound. Jain Temples , Gadisar Lake , Folk Museum , Havelis, Bara Bagh-Cenotaphs built amidst gardens,Afternoon excursion to Sam Sand Dunes, situated 45 kms west of Jaisalemr, with cluster of Sand Dunes. These Dunes varying in size from 3 to 15 kms to a large extent are of shifting sands where wind heaps and the sand into hills or deep hollow scopes. Enjoy the sun set in the evening with its changing colours in desert and take a short Camel ride. Overnight in Jaisalmer

Day 14 JAISALMER/BIKANER
Morning l eave for Bikaner en route take deviation to visit the famous Rat Temple at Deshnok; yes even rats can be sacred in India ! On arrival check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Bikaner

Day 15 BIKANER/NAWALGARH
Morning sightseeing tour of Bikaner , which starts with a visit to Junagarh Fort built by Raja Rai Singh, a General in the army of Emperor Akbar. See the marvels in architecture intricate carvings on red sand stone, some of the finest collections of Armory Golden Work and also raised lacquer work with glass inlay etc. Also visit Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum, the best museum in Rajasthan having a vast collection of rate exhibits covering almost every period of Indian history. Day 16 NAWALGARH-DELHI
Explore the local village by horse safari in the morning and visit local mansions to view famous frescoes.Afternoon depart by surface to Delhi through the Shekawati region of the princely state of Rajasthan.
